AMENDMENTS
My Gids (“we”) may change this Cookie Policy, and if we make
material changes to it, we will, through our services, or otherwise, provide
notice to you to review the changes before the effective date.
You acknowledge that your continued use of our Website after we publish or
send notice of our changes to this Cookie Policy means that the collection, use
and sharing of your personal data is subject to the updated Cookie Policy.
COOKIE POLICY
These Terms and Conditions contain the Cookie Policy for the use of the
Website available at http://mygids.co.za (the Website is further referred to as
“My Gids”)
At My Gids, we believe that it is clear and open about how we collect and
use data related to you. In the spirit of transparency, this policy provides
detailed information on how and when we use cookies. This cookie policy applies
to any My Gids product or service that links to or incorporates this policy by
reference.
DOES MY GIDS USE COOKIES?
Yes. As described in our Privacy Policy, we use cookies and other technologies
to ensure that everyone using My Gids has the best possible experience. Cookies
also help us keep your account secure. By visiting or using our services, you
consent to the use of cookies and similar technologies for the purposes
described in this policy.
WHAT IS A COOKIE?
A cookie is a small file placed on your device that enables My Gids’ features
and functionality. Cookies, for example, allow us to identify your device,
secure your access to My Gids and even help us if someone tries to access your
account from another device. Cookies also allow you to easily share the content
on My Gids and help us serve relevant ads to you.
WHEN DOES MY GIDS PLACE COOKIES?
We use cookies on our website. Any browser that visits these sites will
receive cookies from us. We also place cookies in your browser when you visit
non- My Gids websites that offer our plugins (for example My Gids’ “Share”
button) or labels.
WHAT TYPES OF COOKIES DOES MY GIDS USE?
We use two types: persistent cookies and session cookies. A persistent
cookie helps us recognize you as an existing user, so it is easier to return to
My Gids or interact with our services without having to log in again. After
logging in, a persistent cookie stays in your browser and is read by My Gids
when you return to our website. Session cookies only last as long as the
session (usually the current visit to a website or browser session).
WHAT ARE COOKIES USED FOR?
Cookies can be used to recognize you when you visit My Gids, remember your
preferences, and give you a personalized experience that aligns with your
settings. Cookies also make your interactions with My Gids faster and safer.
Cookies also allow us to place your ads on and off the My Gids site, and bring
personalized features to you through My Gids plugins such as our
“Share” button.
USE CATEGORIES DESCRIPTION
Authentication
When you log in to My Gids, cookies help us to give you the right information
and personalize your experience.
Security
We use cookies to activate and support our security features and to help us
detect malicious activities and violations of our User Agreement.
Preferences, features and services
Cookies can tell us which language you prefer and what your communication
preferences are. They can help you to complete forms on My Gids. They also
provide you with features, insights and personalized content in conjunction
with our plugins. You can learn more about plug-ins in our Privacy Policy.
Advertising
We may use cookies to show you relevant ads on and off the My Gids site. We can
also use a cookie to determine if someone who saw an ad visited later and took
an action (e.g., downloaded a file or made a purchase) on the advertiser’s
website. Similarly, our partners may use a cookie to determine if we have shown
an ad and how it has been performed, or to provide us with information on how
to interact with ads. We may also work with a partner to show you an ad on or
off My Gids, such as after visiting a partner’s website.
Performance, Analysis, and Research Cookies help us learn how well our website
and plugins perform in different places. We also use cookies to understand,
improve and investigate products, features and services, including when you
access My Gids from other websites, apps or devices such as your work computer
or your mobile device.
WHAT IS NOT TRACK (DNT)?
DNT is a concept promoted by regulatory agencies such as the US Federal
Trade Commission (FTC), for the Internet industry to develop and implement a
mechanism for Internet users to control the detection of their online
activities across websites through the use of browser settings. The World Wide
Web Consortium (W3C) works with industry groups, Internet browsers, technology
companies and regulators to develop a DNT technology standard. Although
progress has been made, it has been slow. No standard was adopted on this date.
As such, My Gids does not generally respond to “not detect” signals.
HOW ARE COOKIES USED FOR ADVERTISING PURPOSES?

labels help us serve you relevant advertising effectively. They also help us
provide collaborative auditing, research and reporting to advertisers,
understand and improve our service, and know when content has been shown to
you. Note: Since your web browser can request ads and beacons directly from
third-party ad network servers, these networks may view, edit or set
third-party cookies just as if you requested a web page from their website. Ads
served by My Gids can also be set from third party cookies. If you are
